Characters:

Simon Fish - Methodist who lived in Cornwall but left to settle in Alabama (Finch's landing), went back to England to get a wife, had two daughters, brought slaves and set up a cotton factory.

Atticus - Simon's father who is a lawyer, his first two clients were hanged

Uncle Jack - Doctor

Jean Louise Finch (Scout) - She is the narrator, badly behaved.

Jeremy Atticus Finch (Jem) - Scout's brother, broke his arm when he was 13

Calponia - The cook, argues with scout and always wins because Atticus takes her side.

Charles Baker Harris (Dill) - Scout and Jem's friend, his father has divorced his mother but he doesn't tell people this, claims to have seen Dracula.

Cunningham Family - poor, Walter doesn't take lunch to school, they pay back any favors in kind (goods), Walter can't always go to school because he is having to help at home.

Ewells - live like animals, children are filthy, Burris has lice, pa is contentious, Bob hunts out of season and he spends the relief on whiskey.

Mrs Dubose - Lives on the same street as Scout, Jem and Atticus (they have to pass her everyday). She is very old and lives alone, always in bed. She shouts at Jem and Scout when they pass her. They hate her
